A Carthartic experience

Posted 12/10/2006 by legalweekblogs.com SU

Last month The Diary sensationally revealed that 12 lawyers from Maclay Murray & Spens were planning to cross the Alps in a fund-raising tribute to Hannibal (see story), who famously took on the Romans in their own back yard with an army of elephants - and lost spectacularly.

The elephants were clearly the one flaw in his tactical masterplan, as Maclays successfully made the 75km trek on foot with nary a hair out of place, proving that hardy Glasweigans are made of sterner stuff than those fancy-dan folks from Carthage.

The team are pictured here apparently at their moment of triumph, although as far as The Diary can tell, they could just as easily be stood on any old bleak rainy hilltop in Scotland:

And here is litigation partner David Leckie, who led the crusade:

"The pipes were a bit soggy by the time I'd lugged them all the way," admitted Leckie, hopefully referring to his musical instrument rather than an unpleasant medical condition brought about by the altitude, "but I still managed to get a tune out of them."
