Two pop culture icons came face to face this month as Ground Force chief dirt-shifter Tommy Walsh met Mike Francies, star of US legal sitcom Weil Gotshal & Manges.
Walsh – clearly in awe of his more glamorous companion – presented Francies with an award on 21 November in recognition of the firm’s (charitable) work for the Richard House Children’s Hospice, of which Walsh is the patron. If you look closely enough, some of Francies’ other professional awards are visible on the shelves behind them.
With anticipation mounting to a sweaty, feverish pitch ahead of tonight's glamour-laden Legal Week Awards, to be held once again at Old Billingsgate, Francies - a nominee in the hotly-contested Dealmaker of the Year category - is in the running for another prestigious gong.
Check the Daily Diary tomorrow and Friday for all the gossip from tonight's jamboree, including a video diary of the occasion featuring all your favourite City lawyers!
