New Year revelry did not extend to the many barristers who this year found themselves battling to complete their mandatory continuous profession development (CPD) hours ahead of the year-end cut-off point.
According to online course provider the CPD Channel, around 100 party-hard counsel ushered in 2007 by completing one or more CPD courses up to as late as 9pm.
“There was a course being completed every five minutes on our site on New Year’s Eve,” whooped CPD Channel chief executive Stephen Caine in between choruses of Auld Lang Syne, “which is a huge amount considering people are usually out spending the time celebrating with their friends or families.”
Or filling out forms for their QC applications, of course.
