« Grad-watch 2007: A&O goes bird-watching | Bully beef | Diary managerial masterclass...with Jonathan Goldstein »

Ever the model of discretion, The Diary was this week forced to invoke the sacred journalist code of never revealing sources except in return for a really, really large bribe.
A recent Diary dispatch (see delightfully wry story) told of one City-based partner about to switch US firms who is unlikely to be missed by former colleagues – many of whom are now gibbering emotional wrecks thanks to the harsh treatment meted out by their boss. One poor junior lawyer even suffers from recurring nightmares about the partner.
Several partners have since contacted The Diary, all (wrongly) convinced they can identify the bully in question, while the London chief of one US practice even phoned up to boast about having hired him – although he too was barking up the wrong tree.
Presumably the new colleagues of the actual guilty partner are too frightened to get in touch lest their betrayal be discovered. However, the first person to correctly identify the partner in question by contacting thediary@legalweek.com will receive a prize of your correspondent’s choosing.
All correspondence is, of course, strictly in confidence.
