The Diary heard a new reason for a City partner relocating to the countryside last week – thankfully one that didn’t involve the stunning quality of legal work available in the Cotswolds, Outer Hebrides or Birmingham.
Similarly, you seldom hear parents complaining that their children are over-achievers.
However, one senior City partner is decamping to the countryside after deciding his kids’ central London school is putting them under too much pressure to excel, as teachers labour to meet the expectations of high-flying parents domiciled overseas.
“I don’t care if they can’t read or write,” he reasoned, clearly harbouring no plans of siring a legal dynasty for the ages, “so long as they have fields to run around in and play.”

What better reason would you need? I think it's fantastic that he has put his children's needs before his own.
Good for him!
