The Daily Diary is 100!

The Daily Diary is 100 today!

Yup, this is the hundredth post since your one-stop gossip shop went all modern and digital (although one or two previous posts may have disappeared from the site for, erm, legal reasons). And what better way to celebrate than with a return visit to The Diary's old chums at DLA Piper?

Remember how, when you were little, your bigger, meaner sibling would have to out-do even your most minor achievement just to show you who was boss?

Apropos to nothing, just weeks after The Law Firm Formerly Known As Nabarro Nathanson (TLFFKANN) wowed the web with its new online offering and catchy slogan ‘Clarity Matters’, DLA Piper has upped the ante with its own internet reinvention.

Dlapiper.com retains the firm’s famous blue and white livery but has tacked on an omnipresent new slogan, ‘Everything matters’. Take that Nabarro!

The subtle shift of emphasis comes in response to a welter of client feedback after DLA Piper asked its herd of cash-cows what mattered most to them. Evidently, consensus was not easily reached.

Meanwhile, The Diary understands that the firm’s maverick entertainment group – poached en masse from Denton Wilde Sapte a couple of years back – has adopted the sub-slogan ‘Nothing Else Matters’ in tribute to rock gods Metallica, while the Office of the Chief Executive prefers the simple aspirational imperative ‘Matter’.

Whether those conservative eggheads at Linklaters will subsequently opt for a more suitable ‘Grey Matters’ theme across their own gaudy pink website remains to be seen.
