Travers mountain a challenge to Ince

Posted 29/05/2007 by The Daily Diary

Two intrepid/foolhardy fee earners from Travers Smith were breaking even more challenging ground than that tough City mid-market last month – planting the top 30 UK firm's flag at the top of mighty Mount Everest.

Employment assistant Russ Lamb (the one in the, er, coat) and funds lawyer Sam Kay (in the, erm, hat) completed the 29,035 foot climb at 5am on 20 May after two months on the hoof.

The pair are now safely back at base camp, counting the number of extremities lost to frost bite and celebrating with some Kendal mint cake and a wee dram of St Bernard’s Old Suppository.

To date the duo have raised just over £16,000 for the Samantha Dickson Brain Tumour Trust. Considering Fiona Woolf and friends last week raised £175,000 for a quick stroll round the Inns of Court, hopefully Travers staff will be digging a bit deeper in coming weeks.

Mind you, Lamb and Kay will have been a bit disappointed to learn – like Scott and Amundsen – that a team from Ince & Co had got there a couple of weeks before them.
