« Condoms condemned | Ashurst’s emotional roller-coaster | Grapes of wrath »

Tales among deal lawyers of lost weekends, cancelled holidays and days on end without sleep are far from rare, so it is encouraging to hear that not all City big-shots take things quite so seriously.
But when a firm’s clients include the owner of theme parks such as Alton Towers, it’s probably easier to have fun than if you’re shaving pennies off the tax bill of a multinational conglomerate.
Ashurst partners advising on the recent sale of attractions including Alton Towers and Thorpe Park were treated to free turns on all the roller-coasters with each site visit – a commendable reverse from the City tradition (not adopted at Ashurst, obviously) of a firm taking its clients for a ride.
