Recent press reports have revealed how lawyers at Norton Rose and LG – whose buildings face one another at the shiny More London development – have been sending saucy signals to one another via handwritten messages stuck to office windows.
While that might sounds like the kind of good-humoured, harmless japery City lawyers are so famous for, The Diary hears there might be another cause for the old-fashioned communications.
One Norton Rose client received an email (which subsequently fell into your correspondent’s sweaty paws) from a partner saying: “Apologies for our [dysfunctional] phone system. Since moving, rats have chewed our cables and we have had intermittent difficulty with the new system.”
Insiders suggest the plumes of smoke seen rising from Norton Rose headquarters in recent weeks result from experiments with other forms of primitive communication and definitely not from cooking the books as results season rumbles on.
