« Unproductive phone call of the week | Wragges' Russian reception | Silent partners »

Yesterday The Daily Diary paid tribute to those multi-talented custodians of law firms' telephony, the humble receptionists.
Now news reaches your correspondent's Soho command bunker (from just down the road at FA headquarters on Soho Square) that Wragge & Co will be donating the expertise of one of its elite reception-based professionals to the nation for the big England-Russia Euro 2008 qualifier at Nu Wembley tomorrow night. The nation of Russia, that is.
Impish Wragges wreceptionist Seija Knight, it turns out, will be belting out the Russian national anthem for the benefit of the away fans just moments before the frustrating 0-0 draw kicks off. The half-Aussie, half-Finn soprano has today off from putting Quentin Poole's mum on hold in order to rest her vocal chords ahead of the big occasion.
Let's hope the inevitable (if tasteless) boos for the opposition national anthem aren't as severe as those reserved for Steve McClaren should Terry, Owen and company bottle it.
