You might expect magic circle partners to compensate for all those long hours spent crossing Is and dotting Ts in a dreary office by going in for the obvious trappings of wealth – and usually you would be right.
However, one Linklaters partner recently opted against the usual plush Bentley or sporty mid-life-crisis-mobile for ferrying his briefcase of cash home each evening and has instead acquired a second-hand silver Honda, sourced not via Auto Trader but from a reputable dealer altogether closer to home – his mum.
Apparently one reason he went for the low-cost option was that in his part of town - presumably not one of the more well-to-do boroughs in which Links lads are usually domiciled - cars get trashed on a rather regular basis.
Especially if they have parking stickers for Silk Street, one imagines.
