News reaches The Diary this week that crafty City welterweight Charles Russell is bringing a novel meaning to the term ‘full service’.
In a cunning twist on the concept of client entertainment, the firm has taken to hosting regular wine-and-cheese evenings for both current and former meal-tickets - sorry, clients - of the firm.
It seems the idea is for Charles Russell to play match-maker for the cabal of wealthy divorcees that constitute a large chunk of its family team’s client base, giving the newly-liberated singletons a chance to mingle with fellow clients of compatible appetites (and, presumably, bank balances).
Apparently the idea has been quite a success – especially for the several newly-formed couples who have retired from the evenings’ fun and games for the proverbial ‘nightcap’ afterwards.
Some readers, however, will have noticed a happy consequence of Charles Russell’s altruistic approximation of Eros. With all those whirlwind romances formed on the rebound inevitably doomed to implode in spectacular fashion, the firm is guaranteed a few more days in the divorce courts a little while down the line.
