With the Three Lions failing to quality for the European Championships, Tim Henman having retired from bottling it at Wimbledon and the England cricket team rubbish again after the blip of 2005, law firm communication teams find themselves swamped with hospitality packages for sporting non-events nobody wants to see.
“It’s almost as if clients don’t want to develop deep emotional bonds with tax lawyers and marketing types,” sobs one legal PR. “They are so mercenary – we’d have nothing to do with them if it wasn’t for their cash.”
Clients from Croatia and Russia, however, find themselves royally entertained at English expense.
