Partner don’t preach

Ah, Mipim – the annual celebration of drunken lechery among property lawyers that masquerades as a semi-serious networking bonanza.

One of the better stories to filter through from this year’s annual bun-fight in Cannes was the rather outrageous claim from one City real estate partner who maintained that he had spent much of one evening vogue-ing with Madonna.

It doesn’t take a sense of investigative journalism as finely honed as that of your correspondent to work out the salacious claim was unlikely to be true. After all, even the poptastic pensioner has more sense than to adopt a pissed-up property partner.

Turns out the material girl in question was actually one of his firm’s own associates, who did indeed share a first name with the venerable La Ciccone. Presumably the poor girl’s parents had envisaged a more glamorous career for their little princess than commercial law.
