The Diary was intrigued to hear of the reaction of one top City real estate partner to recent jitters in the domestic property market (well, either ‘jitters’ or ‘first signs of apocalyptic collapse’ depending on what newspaper you read).
Superstar Lovells real estate chief Bob ‘Robert’ Kidby has cunningly hedged his bets by investing in a barge. The narrow-boat is apparently dry-docked up near King’s Cross, doubtless so Bob can keep his beady eye on the £2bn regeneration that his firm is advising developer Argent St George on and is set to transform the area into something marginally less ghastly.
Rumours that the six-string specialist will be converting the vessel into a floating jazz palace from which to throw impromptu summer concerts are yet to be confirmed.
